What is Intuition?
Intuition lives beyond our Five sensory experience. Think of your intuition as a six sense that we all have access to but not all of us are aware of it nor tuned into it.
Most of us live in the five sensory experience ( Sight, Smell, Touch, Taste, Hear) we follow the path of the analytical mind, of logic, operating in the world of form and structure. Yet there is a world beyond that of form and structure, beyond your five sensory experience and that is where your intuition resides.
See intuition is the ability to’ know’ without words, to sense the truth without explanations. Intuition operates beyond time and space and it’s the link to your Higher Self. It’s not bound by the physical body and it doesn’t know time ( in the linear way that we do ) past, present and future are all simultaneous.
Everything is happening now…
Einstein often spoke of intuition he once said: “The Intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant, we have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”
Intuition has the ability to synthesize ideas in a flash, you can find answers in minutes to problems you have been working on for years through your intuition if you know how to listen and tap into it.
HOW DOES INTUITION SPEAK TO YOU?
As we mentioned earlier everything is happening now since time is not linear and so intuition operates in future time and it speaks to us in present time through urges, flashes of ideas, insights, and feelings. To hear it, pay attention to your inner world of ideas and feeling.
Another way to look at is your Past is your SubConscious Mind. Present is the Conscious Mind and the Future is SuperConscious Mind which is where intuition lies.
If you are forcing yourself to do one thing while your feelings are urging you to do another, then you are not listening to your intuition.
Our intuition is constantly sending us messages, telling us moment by moment what to do. But we are usually batting with the intellect because it loves to plan everything out in logical ways and well, your intuition is spontaneous. See how this can create conflict?
However this isn’t to say that intuition is better than intellect or vice versa, everything in this human experiences comes down to balance. But if you want to live up to your full potential and to get the highest energies possible from all things, which I assume you do otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this. Then you are required to live and walk the middle path. In this case, we need to learn how to use both our intellect and intuition together in the way it was designed and intended for us to use.
We have been taught to honor our intellect, through our culture, science and the academic world which is primary focus is to develop the rational, logical mind. Yet that is only one aspect of ourselves. We are not one dimensional beings we are multidimensional beings, in fact many of our greatest inventions have come from a synthesis of both the intellect and intuition.
See the more highly develop your intellect is the more it will want to run the show, much like the ego. It will feel threatened by intuition because it goes against so many of the beliefs that most of us carry within us.
For instance, ” no pain, no gain” If it happens too easy, the results aren’t valuable,” ” life is a struggle,” ” you have to work really hard to having anything,” “things don’t just happen, you have to work for them”, ” change is hard, most people don’t change” and it is through these type of beliefs that the intellect can control you.
The intellect is meant to formulate plans, to decide where to go and to carry things out with action. Yet it is our intuition that monitors the future path designed for our highest good. Since it can see ahead, it knows the obstacles ahead and it has the ability to takes us on detours that turn out to be shortcuts. Yet the intellect does not have this capability and therefore both are needed because they each fulfill a role that the other cannot….
Some of the ways my intuition has helped me
My intuition has helped me in so many situations, even saved my life and other people around me life at times.
When I was in middle school my best friend and I were walking to a friends house after school and we were walking and talking when all of sudden I look to my right and she is no longer there, I stop and look back only to find her talking to a guy, who must have been in his early thirties. I quickly walk over to them as I hear him asking her what is her name and age. Immediately my intuition warned me that we needed to get out of there now. I quickly grabbed my friends hand, pulled her and said lets go NOW! And so lucky that we did because as we began to walk faster the man started following us and saying inappropriate comments about our bodies and that point my intuition said run and when we did he got into the car to follow us lucky my I was guided to cross the street and run into a house where there were people outside which meant he was forced to contiune driving straight. On the other hand my friend was clueless, had I not been there and that situation would have taken place who knows what could have happen, because the guy was going to kidnap her or at least try….
Another time I was able to help my best friend in High School avoid a potentially bad situation when she went on date with a guy who she had no idea was a sex offender and thanks to my intuition and how it guided me towards information in the most inexplicable ways.
My intuition has saved me from car accidents.
My intuition guided me throughout my one year solo travel around the globe, putting me in the right place at the right time, with the right people when I needed it.
My intuition has brought new jobs and opportunities in the most random unexpected ways you can imagine.
My intuition guides me from the small things to the big things in life and when I listen to it and have taken action on it, WOW, life is so much smoother, fun, and magical!
How can you develop your Intuition?
The biggest part about intuition is we need to TRUST it! We all have the ability to use our intuition and follow our gut.
At some point or another you knew the phone was going to ring before it did, you knew who was going to call before they did, you knew something would happen before it did etc…
That is intuition, knowing without explantations as to how you know. I know because I know. The challenge is to pay attention to the visions from within yourself and to then match it with your thoughts, words, behavior and actions.
Developing your intuitive muscle comes down to using it more. It is like any other muscle the more you use it the stronger it gets, the less you use it, the more dormant it becomes.
You can exercise your intuitive muscle by learning to listen to your feelings and act upon them, when you have an urge to do something thing do it. When an idea comes to you, act on it see where it leads you. If you feel called to pick up a certain book, do it. If you feel a pull to work with a certain person but you have no real reason as to why, trust your intuition and act on it.
The whole key to intuition is not only to listen to what it’s telling you but the key is to take action, on what it’s telling you via your feelings. Without action, you are not building your intuitive muscle.
Yet I recognized that to act upon your feelings for many of us, that requires a LEAP OF FAITH and well, that’s part of your own work.
Again as Einstein once said- “There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle.”
The power of how you choose to experience this reality, the lens in which you choose to see the world is up to you and that is your POWER. To believe as you wish and to experience that which you believe to be true, how amazing is that.
But I will leave you with one last thing to ponder upon…
Anyone whose ever done anything that once seemed impossible, made it possible through taking a leap of faith and believing in their vision. For you cannot bring anything from the future into reality without first believing that you can and of course then following through on the insights from within.
Take the Wright brothers, they had to take a leap of faith and really believe in their vision enough to even attempt to bring it to life. Especially when they invented the first successful airplane, and it had never been done before. That is usually when you need to believe the most, because everyone around you will always be ready to tell you how it’s not possible, what you can or can’t do. Yet anyone whose every done anything great, whose defined the odds, whose made the impossible; possible, did it because they followed their inner vision and took action on it despite the logical and rational mind of what is possible or not…
